Personality:  John is noble, kind, has a strong sense of justice, selfless, resourceful, chivalrous and brave.  He holds the teachings and the code of the Jedi in high regard. He has a fascination with technology and nature. What’s more, he's loyal to his friends and willing to help them in any way he can.

But, even though he’s a dedicated Jedi, he has his sort comings.  For he can be stubborn and a smart-aleck.  Also he has little to no tolerance to laziness, stupidity, maliciousness, or perverted behavior.  This leads him to being strict, especially to his young padawan.  Also, even though he tries to keep it at bay, he has a short temper if given the right circumstances.

And, because of the teachings of the Jedi and of past events, he developed some trust issues where he won’t let anyone get close to him.  Especially with his own family.  What’s more, ever since the rise of the Empire and being constantly on the run, he became war-weary.  While he does believe in the Rebellion’s cause, he’s not sure that the Civil War will end in the way they hope if they do win.  Because of this, he wouldn’t allow his padawan, his friends, or even himself to get involve in the fighting.

Backstory:  With the consent of his parents, John was sent to be trained to be a Jedi at the Jedi Temple of Coruscant shortly after he was born.  Throughout most of his childhood, John was trained with many other younglings in the ways of the force and the Jedi code under the guise of Master Yoda.  When John turned 8, he went up the ranks to padawan and became the apprentice of Jedi Knight, Danean Reefar. For the young John, his future to protect the galaxy was bright.

That is, until the year he turned 9.  That was when the Old Republic fell and the rise of the Empire.  And with that came Order 66: the elimination of all Jedi.  John and his master managed to escape from the clone troopers that tried to murder them.  They were about to go back to the Jedi temple of Corocaunt. But luckily they got the message from Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi to not return to their home planet.  While the two of them surived the chaos, the galaxy has changed and they must be forever on the run from the the newly formed  Empire.

 For many years, Danean further John’s training by unconventional ways as they run from the Empire constantly.  When John turned 18, he completed his training as a padawan, went through all of the trials and was promoted "Jedi Knight" by his master and "the will of the Force".  But unfortunately on that same year, they were attacked by the Empire’s secret group called the Inquisitors.  Danean managed to help John escape from them, but he gets killed in the process.

For many months, John wandered the galaxy alone as he tries to avoid being caught by the Empire and the Inquisitors.  Until one day, his travels take him back to planet where he was born: Naboo.  It was there that he reunites with his parents when he stumbled upon their farm.  At first, they couldn’t recognize that they were related.  It wasn’t until Maratha and Hiram saw John had similar physical traits to them that they realize John is their son.  And for John, it was through the Force that he felt he had a familiar connection to them. On that same day, it was also when he meets his little sister, Samantha, for the first time.  For the next month, John stayed with his family and helped out on the farm.  And for the first time in a long time, John felt happy (even though he knew he couldn’t stay long).

Until one day, John senses something is strange with his little sister when she was able to do things that a normal person couldn’t.  So, through unconventional ways, John tests her if his suspicion is true (Sam called them “funny games”).  And, with each test, Sam managed to pass each one.  John’s suspicion was correct: his little sister was force-sensitive.  Knowing full well that Sam is a target for the Empire, he console his parents about his sister and that she needs to be trained to be a Jedi.  At first, his parents refused.  But after some persuasion, they relent and gave their consent and blessing to their children.

The following day, John and Sam leave their home planet and begin to travel the galaxy together.  And from that point on, John trains his new padawan in the ways of the force and the philosophies of the Jedi as they both are constantly on the run from the Empire.
